Each year, Wyandot BHN presents the Zevenbergen Community Partner Award to a valued community partner in recognition of their efforts to promote a healthier and stronger community. This year, the award was presented to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County & Kansas City, Kansas and the UG Public Health Department.
“It has been inspiring to see how the Unified Government and the Health Department responded with such compassion over the past year and a half. They have gone to incredible lengths to keep the Wyandotte County community healthy."
The award is named in honor of Wyandot BHN’s former President & CEO Pete Zevenbergen, who was a champion for Wyandotte County. The Unified Government and the Health Department were selected as the recipients of this year’s award in recognition of their ongoing efforts to fight COVID-19 and their leadership throughout the pandemic.
“It has been inspiring to see how the Unified Government and the Health Department responded with such compassion over the past year and a half,” says Randy Callstrom, Wyandot BHN President & CEO. “They have gone to incredible lengths to keep the Wyandotte County community healthy. It was my pleasure to present this award to them in recognition of their efforts and their ongoing commitment to the vision of a healthier, stronger community.”
Mayor David Alvey and Juliann Van Liew, Director of the Unified Government Public Health Department, received the award on behalf of their staffs.
“We have a very closely aligned mission in our organizations,” says Van Liew. “I think that makes partnering together all the easier.”
