Randy Callstrom joined the Wyandot Behavioral Health Network family of organizations in 1993, shortly after graduating from the University of Kansas with a Master’s in Social Work. Throughout his career, he has focused on serving children and adults living with emotional and behavioral disorders and mental illness. Mr. Callstrom brings years of clinical experience to his current role of President & CEO of Wyandot Behavioral Health Network. During his decades-long career, he has worked in a variety of settings, including residential treatment facilities, psychiatric hospitals, and with Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services. He has worked as a case manager, therapist, supervisor, and administrator.
During his nearly 30-year career with the Wyandot Behavioral Health Network family of organizations, Mr. Callstrom has served in a variety of roles. He began his career with Wyandot as a therapist working with children and families. He also spent 15 years developing and overseeing youth assessment and treatment services and community-based services. In 2010, he became the Executive Director for PACES (Parent and Child Empowerment Services) where he continued to draw upon his clinical experience to guide a staff of more than 120 full-time employees. During his time as Executive Director, Mr. Callstrom helped lead the effort to open Robert’s Place, an emergency shelter for Wyandotte County children in crisis.
In 2014, Mr. Callstrom became president of Wyandot Behavioral Health Network. He now manages a family of nonprofit organizations with close to 400 staff and a consolidated budget of nearly $30 million. Over the past several years, Mr. Callstrom has led an organization-wide effort to become trauma-informed. In March 2020, Wyandot Behavioral Health Network also achieved a 3-year accreditation through CARF International for adult and children’s case management services, adult and children’s outpatient treatment, and crisis stabilization services. CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) is an international organization that sets standards for mental health and other rehabilitation services worldwide.
Mr. Callstrom also serves as a board member for several groups. He currently serves as President of the Association of Community Mental Health Centers of Kansas. He also serves as the Chair of the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County Executive Board and Treasurer for the Metropolitan Council of Community Mental Health Centers. He has also served as Treasurer for Kansans for Quality Mental Health Services for five years. Mr. Callstrom is also a member of Kiwanis International.
